After the ER adventures last night I woke with a headache. Knowing it would turn into a migraine of I did not listen to my body and rest, I crawled back into bed and slept until noon. It took me until almost 4:30 to get myself to the Simpson Street Lot.
I have been chatting with a parent/new friend at Como Senior High wanting to learn more about 4H and seeing if Stella would be interested. She told me the Ramsey County group would be performing Saturday, but I just assumed it was the Arts'In on the schedule at 5pm. Sadly, I got there for the 5pm performance (which was very good) but that was the state performance and missed the county one at 12:30. There was no way I would have made it.
I had not eaten yet so I grabbed a foot long (#2) and walked over to the Baldwin Stage and there was lots of room so I grabbed an entire bench to save for Mom, Kathy and Michael. The whole talent show gang was coming soon and Cindy K and her sister were there saving seats too. It was fun to catch up. She told me she did get a blue ribbon this year, but not until just today! I need to get back down to Ag/Hort and check out the the little peppers!
It was over an hour wait for the show, but the time was cut short with entertainment by Monster Shop Bump'n with BC Characters. A little girl asked to sit on the end of the bench to see the show (of course she could!) and people who were looking for seats and gathering for the talent show kept standing in the aisles, oblivious to their surroundings. at one point there was a crew of six people blocking the entire aisle in the fourth row and I got up and made them aware that there were lots of people actually watching THISshow...could they please take their loud conversation elsewhere! They did move, but slowly... seriously!
The gang began arriving and by showtime, we were all in place. Brekkens, Cambronnes, David and Cindy, Mom and Kathy. Michael decided to remain back at the Bandshell to save a seat for Wilson Philips! (I would be joining him later and hoped for a seat)
The talent show was great, I took this video of a little dancer doing "Smooth Criminal" Michael Jackson. I loved him and he ended up winning, so we will see him again at the Grandstand Finals! I did get to see the clogger, and he is wonderful. Cindy gave me a thumbs up and was her pick for best in show and he won! We will see him at the final too!
I left a little early in hopes to get a seat with Micheal, but there was no space. I tried to get a picture of the Wilson Philips sign but it was too dark. You'll have to trust I was there! LOL I asked if I could get him anything since I was mobile, but he was good and I took up a stance at the back of the stage with a great view. Wilson Philips really only had two hits, Release Me and Hold On, but they did a few Beach Boys tunes, Mamas & Papas tunes and my favorite was the ABBA medley they sang. They ended (of course) with Hold On, and Mom, Michael and I were on the move at the end to get a seat at the Ball Park for a beer before heading home. On her way out of the fair, Kathy texted us to say the Robot was by the gate. I tried to get a picture, but he was on a segue and moving too fast! Mom got a photo earlier this week, so I will get hers. This is the best I have for now!
We were all pretty hungry so I stopped for some Bull Bites at Axel's, Michael got a loaded Chicago Dog, and Mom got the best deal...the half rotisserie chicken dinner at the Ball Park for $7!
Ran into Dan & Kim, Marty & Lynn and Greg & Mary Jo! The Ball Park is always a great gathering spot.
There was great music all over the fair tonight, as we walked out we listened for a bit at O'Gara's and got to see the fireworks as we left the grounds. (my first fireworks this year!)
Driving home I was delayed in some traffic due to an accident car vs bike at the corner of Midway Pkwy and Horton where the road curves between the picnic shelters and the pool. Terrible spot. The biker was motionless on the ground on top of her mangled bike and her riding partner was with her holding her. Lots of people were "helping" and EMS had not arrived yet. I thought about stopping, but have no skills to help and would have been in the way. I thought it best to keep moving and pray for the best outcome. There was nothing in the paper Sunday, so I am hopeful it was a good outcome.
Tell your people you love them every day!
Day Ten STATS:
