Hot enough for ya?

With temperatures forecast in the upper 90's and heat index of 105°,  Stella and I walked over to the fair armed with ice cold neck wraps and cold water bottles.  I snapped a picture of the white rocking chairs in front of the "Wiser Living" booth.  Where Mom & I took the nursing home quiz.

Walking through Baldwin Park we were offered free pancakes!

We headed to the north end to see a lumberjack show stopping along the way to try and win a cow (nuts) and grab a slice of pizza.
Used our first coupon book coupon today!  BoGo slices.  Stella reminded me we needed to find a souvenir cup for soda to save on refills.  Smart girl!  I stopped at an information booth and sure enough they have a list of all the vendors selling them!  Gizmo was our destination.

We will not be thirsty!

On our way back down to see the Lumberjacks and Jill's, there was a misting fan @ KQRS.  As we were cooling off we got company!  Silly gophers...
Scanning the seats at the lumberjack show and noting absolutely zero shaded areas, we decided it best to find another option.  As we weighed our options in the shade of a tree, the lady standing next to us had this.....
A Be-Dazzled Bubba Keg.  Only at the fair.

Gander Mountain and Columbia are giving away arm wraps made of some new fabric that cools when you sweat.  It is called Omni-Freeze Zero. We have seen them all over, on people walking around.  The line was long but moving quickly and shady all the way, so, going against my "no line" plan this year we waited.  They work.

After a while I noticed a grainy residue on my arm, not sure why, but the arm band did keep my arm cool.  I called it "creepy cool".

We walked through the Eco building to fill our water bottles.  The longest lines at the fair today...for drinking fountains.
Since we did  not watch the Lumberjack show, we had time to kill, so we wandered through the Fine Art Building.  Cool art...hot building.  We were out by 1:25.

Awesome painting of an awesome car.

Beautiful boat sculpture.
The description reads "Equilbrium".

I was hoping to see the Ramsey County Art-In Performance at the 4-H Harkness Stage at 3:30, so we found a bench in the shade and waited for the parade to come by.

Me and my "ridiculous hat" I got in NYC, hot face and wet neck from my cooling rag.

We were so close to the Kiwanis Malt stand and it was so hot....we agreed it would be best to get ice cream!

It was fun to actually watch the parade this time!  Not much has changed from last year.

This was the last day to see the beautiful Budweiser Clydesdale's.  Our seats must have been in the "poop here" zone for parade horses.  Half the horses that passed by our seats left a load.  The "Doody Calls" guys must not be working this year as we watched three or four marching bands, march on through.  "OH"'s and "NO"'s went up from the crowd, you'd think we were watching fireworks!

We headed to the 4-H building for the next show and it was heating up.  Mom texted to tell me the heat index was at 104°.  I believed it, it was rather stifling in the building.  I keep getting the wrong information about the Art's In show I want to see.  Maybe I am asking the wrong questions. We watched a fun show but it was NOT the Ramsey County show, it was the State show.  I asked about the other show on my way out, after being redirected by three different Ambassadors, I found the office with the information I needed . Apparently, I missed the only County performances on Thursday.  Note to self for next year.

We walked home and I zipped into the Education Building...NO LINE, snapped up our St. Thomas bags!  we also got our "We're Fans of Pope Francis" fans.  Catholic or not, you gotta like this guy!

It was hot.  We were done.  Amen.

  1. I thought of you and all the other thousands and thousands of people today in the heat as I swam in a pool for a few hours. State fair was not the place I would want to be on such a hot day! :) See you Wednesday!
