Started the day at Urgent Care, at the urging of family of friends. I got the A-Ok to be at the fair (not like I stayed away up to this point). The doc recommended continued allergy meds for my "bite area" which make me so blinkin' thirsty I can't get enough water out here, and a good toe soaking twice a day with good ol' Epsom salt. Keeping it clean and covered! I will follow orders to make it through these last *sigh* five days.
My boss buddy Dan asked if I'd be willing to help him carry out an awesome favor for two hard working women! I got to the fair with enough time to get down to the animal barns and back to the forest by 2:45.
My friend Sally told me she got an employment gig working in the horse barn office! It was a stop I made every year, until Diane Peterson retired, I was happy to revisit the old haunt! I walked n the office to find *two* friends! My dear friend Trina's mother Meredith also works here!
Crazy, crazy small world story, it turn out that Sally's husband Tom's maternal grandfather Roman Kauphusman is the brother in law of Merediths mother. Ya, say that three times fast.

I rounded the corner to the Scotch Egg booth, to fulfill Dans request.
I had to message him to get the correct sauces, but armed with the treat, after chatting a little longer than I should have, I beat feet back up to the forest.

On my way, I snuck through the AFL-CIO and who should I run into at the welder booth, getting his trash picker upper tool tweaked for optimum performance, but the hardest working happiest sanitation guy on the grounds!
And his side kick
Made it to the forest just in time and Peggy & Laura were quite pleased!
No time for a cereal giveaway check tonight, it was apron on and right to my post.
This special visitor came to see me today.
He's been my buddy for 18 months and will very soon be moving up to preschool! It took him a minute to figure out what I was doing there, but once he did, it was all hugs!

This adorable couple came to visit too!
My niece Morgan and her boyfriend Matt. We sent a message to her big brother (my nephew) Alec from the Alphabet forest!

After my shift, I joined the whole gang at the Lienie lodge for Talent Show #1.
I am blogging as I sit here. I need food, no pie yet today, I might need to make a call to reserve one! Not sure what the rest of the evening has in store!

After the talent show, Michael & Kathleen stayed put to see the Billybob Thornton band at 8, Took a cute picture of Mom, Morgie & Matt,
then Stella and her friend Jules were heading into gate # 5, thanks to a grandpa rescue after waiting for a bus for 45 minutes, just as Mom, Morgan, Matt & I were getting ready to part and go our separate ways.
Cute cousins who have not seen each other in over a year!

Mom left us, on a mission to the County Talent Sow, Matt & Morgan were trying to decide on their last state fair tastes, before heading home. Morgan & Matt drove 16 hours home from Wyoming yesterday, fair today and need some rest before they go meet Rocky, the new Kelsey granddog tomorrow! Stella & Jules headed off in search of their own fun and I headed off to find tots and a beer!
Lucky for me, the Tot Boss is right next door to Midway Men's Club. There was a long line for beer out front when I heard the sweet bellow "Cold Beer in the back!" Short waits for everything tonight! Classic State Fair dinner!

I still have not had pie. Not sure I'll have room after loaded tots and a large beer. Our friend David Cambronne, fabulous Emcee at the County Show, reminded me that tonight in the cities, there are home games for the Twins, Vikings and Gophers....no wonder the fair is a bit of a ghost town.
After the talent show, we walked past the alphabet forest and the guys were cleaning up. I noticed these signs on the red & yellow benches, that I surreptitiously stole from as far as two blocks away on the prep Sunday before the fair. It's nice to have lots of benches for grown ups to rest, so they are inclined to sit and let persistent kids finish their game cards and have fun in the forest.
I decided I really did need pie, but it was nigh eight and so I placed a text message inquiring about blueberry availability. Sara got tight back to me with good news!
Mom and I stopped to say goodnight yo Michael & Kathleen at the BillyBob Thornton concert and walked to get pie. As we stood buying pie, the woman chatting with Sara looked familiar. Sure enough it was Sheryl, one of the Danielson's! Mom already had onion rings today and I got a picture of a couple of superior state fair businesswomen!
Moms fave and my fave!
Mom needed protrude, so we headed to The Ball Park Cafe, and they made her a special California burger. We got to sit outside and have a burger and a beer and watch both the Vikings and the Twins play ball!
We found a warm cozy corner, it was kind of chilly at the fair tonight!
Soon Stella & Jules joined us and we headed home!
Roman was the brother of Meredith's mother-in-law. You got soooo close.
