Short Saturday

Sore feet and legs contributed to an 8:30 wake up!   Since this is my journal (and advice column for many) I get a bit long winded in my posts.  I try to type it like I'd tell it,  and I can tell you (no surprise) I can talk so much faster than I type!

Blogging took me over three hours and I prepared for a possibly rainy day and gave myself an hour to get to my parking spot.  Despite the weather, rumor had it, it was still a c~R~a~Z~y day over at the fair!

I armed myself with supplies for my day.
The little bugs in the wood chips where I stand in the forest at the fair have little biting flies that attack my ankles, I use bug spray, but even so....  The Arnicare speaks for itself!

I walked right into Gate #5, just as the parade was marching by.  I got a pic of these guys!

I needed food and headed down to Dimitri's for my favorite Gyro.
The price is $10 this year, and the Gyro is ~not~ any bigger.  Still delicious, but maybe not a "go-to" lunch staple at that price.

With info provided from the Syndicate Sales email and more so my friend Gayle, who told me yesterday, I've probably walked by the Syndicate booth about a hundred times in my life..., I headed into the Grandstand ~before~ it started raining and got really crowded!

Its the SALSA man in the middle of the main floor grandstand!  The item they wanted comes highly recommended by my brother Mark, who says he can't live without his.

It was a third less than I thought it was and about 10 times less than I was bidding on the basket it was in at the Taste!  It was a bargain!  To complete the gift, I just need to pick up the Blur Ribbon Salsa recipe on Monday morning at Creative Activities!

I needed to be to the Forest by 3:00, so I hot footed it in that direction trying to wind my way through the throngs of people, worsened by parade traffic.  I got a text message from my Forest Boss Dan telling me to get up there soon, I had tons of visitors waiting for me!  That lightened my step and I moved faster!

I arrived to find my girl Maeva and her family, now a big preschool kid, she will always hold a special place in my heart!  It had been a long day, and she wasn't feeling 100%, so I just got to take a picture of her...  There are boundaries that I always respect with children!

Her Mom was a Boston Scientific "spotter" and I actually remembered to wear my BSCI t-shirt today, so I won a prize!  Maeva and a gift card WIN~WIN~

Another special family came all the way back to visit me, but lost one to a nap along the way.

This family has also graduated from my toddler program, but these girls....I will always love.  They are also the family that introduced me to David LaRochelle's writing magic! ( Martha..Moo! and not CAT!)

Before my shift was even in full swing, yet another special girl and her wonderful family stopped by!  Bailey had had a ~long~ day, and also was not inclined to jump in my arms for a picture, but this will do!  I did get a smile and wave from the stroller!

My relief crew for the photo booth was a newbie!  It was pretty slow, so I offered to be her test subject! She did a great job!

I joined Mom (and David most nights)  Yesterday David gave the Iron Man meat &  potatoes at Giggles Campfire Grill two enthusiastic thumbs up.  It was a chilly rainy day and it sounded awesome! I left Mom on a bench and found iggls himself serving up my Meat & Potatoes.

It was better than I imagined!   Meatloaf base (it tasted almost like a roast beef hash) with cheese, roasted corn and ~real~ red mashed potatoes with gravy on top.    Mom & I shared one and it left  room for pie!

After the shows we headed to the food building, Mom wanted to try the Granny's Apple crisp right next to Peters on the west end of food building.  I figured, why mess with a good thing and walked over for pie!  Sara found a new grass roots marketing campaign!  There are a few shuttle bus drivers who are super fans like me!  If you mention the bus driver special, you can get 2/$10!  Mom already had her apple crisp, (which she liked, but not raving), so discretion was best and I just got one.

As mom & I were heading home, my dear friend Carole messaged me to see if the hot tub was open....she and Rebbeca stopped over, and after a 45 minutes soak, good conversation and a little wine, my legs were feeling much better!
