Shorter Sunday!

Stella told me "we" needed to go to church today, because she was singing.  What is this "we" business?  It's the fair!  Fortunately for her, I ~will~ change any plans when I get to hear her sing.

After church I started catching up on the blog.  Mom let me know that she had possibly over booked the Simpson Street lot, so I offered to use the Park & Ride system.  Reports have been dismal this year about the frustrations using the park & rides, long lines, full lots, shorter hours of operation, etc. I was game to try it!  I could always pay a neighbor.  (Maybe)

I pulled up to the Bandana Square lot and found " FULL" signs, but I pulled in anyway and the nice youth runner showed where a spot had opened up.  I hopped in a comfy air condition coach bus and waited a few minutes to begin our departure.

As I rode in comfort to the the Snelling gate, listening to the drivers chatter communicating well regarding lines forming and where the buses needed to be, drivers alerting each other to their upcoming arrival, so they could depart for the next group.  I pondered the passenger side simplicity of it all, and the closer proximity to the entrance as it dawned on me....all my tickets are stored on top of Moms hutch.  So, I departed the bus with plenty of time for a quick round trip to Simpson street!

I usually apply the bug spray I keep in my car as I complete final preparations for the day, sunscreen, water refill etc, at moms house.  But whoops!  My car was in a lot, far, far away.  Nobody in the neighborhood owns bug spray...what??  I decided to try applying vinegar to my feet to help keep the bugs off.  Time would tell!

Today, I didn't need lunch, and even using mass transit I had a little time so I wandered through the entire education building. The booths are all the same as last year, I made cursory stops and spent most of my time looking at all the incredible art and technology that our states school children offer!

Kindergartner!

Way to go Como Park Senior High!

And a sixth grader.

We had lots of volunteers tonight so I got to relax at the "Author Table" helping kids color their own State Fair Adventure books! So. Much. Fun.

E, and her son (with a few friends) stopped by.  Caleb knocked out a blue ribbon winning alphabet card in record time and they were off to climb in the National Guard tanks across the street!

I got to see this adorable couple!  Last year at the fair as just a couple!  Good thing they know where the alphabet forest!  Its never too soon to teach literacy!  See you here plus one in 2017!

Towards the end of my shift this awesome family came to see me!  They had been there ~all day~. Their dad participated in the milk run this morning. They have moved on from our center to new adventures and, again, unsure of a hug for Ms. Heather, I asked the girls to take a selfie of us instead! This is as good as it gets.

Tom & Kathy were with me, but busy on the other end and then post shift quickly headed to the photo booth to make a birthday greeting for the already at college son Ethan!
My cousin Matt and his family all arrived to say Hi in the Forest!  He and I were communicating earlier about parking options, and they were all set to park in the Park & Ride when mom texted that she had space for them!  I know that she loves to have all the family park so she gets to see them all!  (Me not so much...lol)

I connected with mom for the Talent Show at Leinie Lodge.   As we were sitting there some kind of bug bit my boob.  I mention it only because it turns into a great story for tomorrows blog!

We headed up to catch the end of the County Fair, Mom stopping at Salem Lutheran Church to get her meatball sundae (they had run out of meatballs when she and Stella tried on Thursday night.)  I decided I was feeling pretty tired and just wanted to stop at the Green Mill to try the full size Italian taco that I got a taste of earlier.    I asked the guy if it was possible to make one without tomatoes, or was it all marinating together?  He said I sure can, but you'll have to wait for me to make you a "new" one.  Well.... nothing about waiting for a new one sounds like a problem to me... If the alternative is an "old" one, its a taco....why yes!  I'll be happy to wait!  It really was good, warm pesto, cheeses and sausage with crisp shredded romaine,  Caesar and balsamic dressing in a crunchy almost flatbread like) shell.

Randy texted me during the show;

I stopped at the Tom Thumb by the Kidway, grabbed a bag and double bagged it for the trip home. Mom was using the brand new restroom complex and I noticed the entire north side of the building is all Family restrooms.  Being next to the Kidway I thought that was genius!  Mom exited and remarked about the smelly larger restroom.  My guess is all those kids and improper diaper disposal.  I might find an alternative, unless you sneak into a family one.

Mom offered to drive me back to my car, but the Park & Ride bus was waiting and it was not long before we were on our way down Snelling.  All in all I feel like they are working hard to make the system run smoothly.

I got home and worked on the blog for a bit, until I started feeling lots of pain in my right arm, swelling of my lymph node and I couldn't use my right hand to type anymore as it would not close around the mouse.  I summoned Stella to be my medic and we were off the the ER.....

On tomorrows blog....Attack of the killer spider!
